Lasaria Creative Writing Competition 2012

 

Calling all writers! We are conducting the Lasaria Creative Writing Competition 2012 to find excellent unpublished and self-published manuscripts.

 

The competition is open to authors who produce manuscripts written in English and is intended to recognize manuscripts that have not been published or have been self-published. Manuscripts must be creative, innovative, and technically sound. The competitive categories are Fiction, Non-Fiction, Juvenile Fiction, Short Stories, and Young Authors.

 

          Best Fiction Manuscript

 

  • Manuscripts must be at least 60,000 words in length.

  • Include your name, mailing address, and email address on the first page of your manuscript.

  • Manuscripts will be judged on creativity, storyline, character development, grammar, and punctuation.

  • Manuscripts must be submitted in a virus-free Microsoft Word .doc document.

  • Entry fee: $25
  • After your pay your entry fee, email your submission to fiction@lasariacreative.com

 

         

 
  1. Gold Award Winner: Will be offered a standard Lasaria Creative Publishing Contract.
  2. Silver Award Winner: Will be offered a Lasaria Creative eBook Publishing Contract.

    Best Non-Fiction Manuscript

     

  • Manuscripts must be at least 50,000 words in length.
  • Include your name, mailing address, and email address on the first page of your manuscript.
  • Manuscripts will be judged on creativity, content, organization, author’s credibility, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Manuscripts must be submitted in a virus-free Microsoft Word .doc document.
  • Entry fee: $25

  • Manuscripts must be at least 30,000 words in length.
  • Include your name, mailing address, and email address on the first page of your manuscript. 
  • Manuscripts will be judged on creativity, storyline, character development, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Manuscripts must be submitted in a virus-free Microsoft Word .doc document.
  • Entry fee: $20

    Best Short Story Manuscript

     

  • Manuscripts must be between 5,000 and 10,000 words in length.

  • Include your name, mailing address, and email address on the first page of your manuscript.

  • Manuscripts will be judged on creativity, storyline, character development, grammar, and punctuation.

  • Manuscripts must be submitted in a virus-free Microsoft Word .doc document.

  • Entry fee: $15

         Best Manuscript by a Young Author

 

  • Authors must be under 16 years of age.
  • Manuscripts must be at least 2,000 words in length.
  • Include your name, your guardian’s name, mailing address, and email address on the first page of your manuscript.
  • Manuscripts will be judged on creativity, storyline, character development, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Manuscripts must be submitted in a virus-free Microsoft Word .doc document.
  • Entry fee: $10 – Must be paid by an adult over 18 years old.

Competition Guidelines 

 

Who May Enter

 
Authors who have written a manuscript that has not been published may enter. Self-published authors may also enter. Young authors must be under 16 years of age. 
 
Eligibility
 
Manuscripts that have not been published are eligible for this competition. Self-published manuscripts are also welcome.

             

Entry Fees (per title, per category)

 

Fiction Manuscript: $25

Non-Fiction Manuscript: $25

Juvenile Fiction Manuscript: $20

Short Story Manuscript: $15

Young Author Manuscript: $10

 

Judging Process

 

Judging will be based on content and originality with an emphasis on innovation. Excellent grammar and punctuation will also be critical to your success. Our judging panel includes experts from the fields of editing, writing, and reviewing books. If we do not receive manuscripts in a category that meet our standards and requirements, there will be no award winners.

 

Deadline

 

All entries must be received by April 30, 2012. We will confirm your entry via email. 

 

Are Awards Programs Worth the Money and Effort? 

 

Entering your work in a writing competition takes time, money, and effort, but the possible pay-offs include an opportunity to accept a publishing contract, possible financial rewards from book sales, personal satisfaction, and literary status. Awards are a great confidence boost for writers. They can also influence book reviewers and book buyers.
